Call for 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2023
The 10 New Insights in Climate Science series is an annual synthesis highlighting essential advances in climate change research, from natural and social sciences, with high policy relevance. The report has been launched every year since 2017 at the climate COP, with participation of the UNFCCC Executive Secretary.
This joint initiative of Future Earth, The Earth League, and The World Climate Research Programme, is a collective effort to support the diffusion of the most relevant and up-to-date climate change science to policymakers, negotiators, and the general public.
We are seeking input from researchers across all disciplines working with issues related to climate change. We welcome your contribution by answering this brief questionnaire by February 17.
The core of the questionnaire is this:
Give us your pitch:
What is a key recent advance in climate change research that you think should be highlighted for policymakers?
- Please provide at least one academic reference supporting your suggestion.
- By ‘recent’ we mean that core supporting references should be published after December 2021. (Older references can be included as background).
- By ‘key advance’ we mean: 1) new evidence or analyses that significantly update our understanding of the processes and patterns of climate change, its impacts, and the possible means to address it; or
2) novel topics and questions associated with emerging developments.
While the former refers to concrete new insights, the latter refers to important issues starting to appear on the horizon of climate change research.
Join the effort:
Would you be interested in being part of one of the topic-expert teams (as a co-author) responsible for one of the selected insights? Can you suggest other experts as potential authors?
To compose the 10 topic-expert teams, the Editorial Board will select from the nominations based on relevant expertise, scientific excellence, and diversity. All invited experts are recognized as co-authors of the peer-reviewed paper and the policy report.
